A safety leadership course consisting of 25+ e-learning modules, a diagnostic self-test and on-the-job activities for sign-off to ensure learning has been transferred.
Background
Rio Tinto is a world leader in finding, mining and processing the earth’s mineral resources.
The challenge
To revise and update the Safety Leadership Development Program in response to business and user feedback in order to maximise the ongoing benefits resulting from the upgrade of knowledge, skills and attitudes of leaders across the group.
The solution
The foundation of our approach was to inspire audiences with a desire to learn. We achieved this by contextualising educational messages and learning outcomes in a way that is relevant – ensuring the learning objectives connect the user’s life experiences with business processes and workflows. This approach contributes to Rio Tinto’s progress through the culture curve towards interdependence and fosters long-term improvements and skill-set growth through delivery of situational learning strategies.
The result
Each of the creative design, learning design and technology components were integrated to build a learning solution for the HSE Skills Development Program that is ‘cutting-edge’ and delivers learners a best practice learning solution.
